The Premier Women’s One Day Competition will see a repeat of the Twenty20 final from Waitangi Day, where defending one-day champions Lancaster Park will take on Old Boys Collegians.
Old Boys Collegians have won the Twenty20 competition and Kirsty Bond 8-a-side series and are now looking for the three-peat, while Lancaster Park will be motivated to try and hold on to the title they won in 2017/18.
Old Boys Collegians have a strong batting line up with Hayley Aburn and Haley Banks anchoring the top order. Throw in the likely availability of White Fern and Magicians star Erin Bermingham along with regular contributors Allie Mace-Cochrane, Emma Kench and Meg Lay and Old Boys Collegians look a powerful unit.
Lancaster Park can also call on a wealth of experience with White Fern and Magicians all rounder Kate Ebrahim in excellent form of late. Add Magicians Jacinta Savage, Laura Hughes and Kirsty Nation into the mix and they too have destructive batting power.
Lancaster Park will be missing the services of top wicket taker Sarah Asmussen who is studying in Dunedin and Frankie Mackay who is still out with a leg injury. On the positive, Rachel Candy may return to action after a long lay off with a hand injury.
Old Boys Collegians have a full squad to select from.
Runs on the board are important in any final and with batting conditions likely to be excellent at the Hagley Nursery Ground, so look for the side who wins the toss to bat first and put pressure on the side who will need to chase later in the day.
Sydenham play St Albans in the 3rd/4th playoff, the highlight to be Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu turning out in their club colours. This game will be played alongside the final at Hagley 3.
